Pieces of bone or cartilage that are loose within the joint.
Signs and Symptoms
- Painful mechanical locking or catching
- Instability of the hip joint
What causes loose bodies?
- Injury (causing isolated fragments)
- Arthritis (causing bone spurs)
- Disease of the synovium (causing multiple fragments)
